How to correct your Aadhaar/PAN details online

The income tax department has launched an online facility to correct errors in names and other details in permanent account number (PAN) and Aadhaar document on its website:
https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
As seen below on the left hand side the first option facilitates you to link Aadhaar with PAN. To make any changes you need to click click the link provided next- “Links to correct Name”.

Once you click on the second option to correct your name you get two options on the second page:
1. To update your PAN details please contact NSDL

https://www.onlineservices.nsdl.com/paam/endUserRegisterContact.html
2. To update your Aadhaar card details please contact UIDAI at
The first link is to make changes in the existing PAN data or for application of new PAN by an Indian or a foreign citizen while the second hyperlink is for individuals who want to update their Aadhaar details by logging into ‘Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal’ using the unique identity number. After doing so, the individual can upload scanned documents as a proof for updating data request for the process to get authenticated and verified by UIDAI.
Once you are done with the changes, you can go back to the first option on the left hand side of the home page to link your Aadhaar and PAN. As mentioned in my previous post (How to link your Aadhaar card and PAN card) you need mention your PAN and Aadhaar number along with your name as per the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) data. After verification is done by the UIDAI, the linking of Aadhaar and PAN will be confirmed. However, in the case of any minor mismatch in the Aadhaar name, Aadhaar OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number with the UIDAI.
